The CAT ODB 718 (Old Dirty Bastard) is the hard-use variant in CAT’s ODB line, Inconel 718 construction, SURGE BYPASS gas management, and a design tuned for the environments where titanium’s spark risk isn’t acceptable. Inconel 718 tolerates sustained temperatures up to 1,800°F without sparking, which matters on short barrels running full-auto.

Third-party PEW Science testing puts the ODB 718 at a 36.7 composite Suppression Rating on a 10.3-inch MK18 with Federal XM193. For duty use, high heat, or short barrels, this is the right pick. For lighter weight at a lower rate of fire, see the ODB Titanium.

Features & Benefits

  • Inconel 718 construction: zero titanium spark risk, structural integrity up to 1,800°F, and no degradation under full-auto firing schedules, the material choice for high-heat duty environments
  • SURGE BYPASS gas management reduces back-pressure to the host, resulting in cleaner cycling and reduced gas to the shooter during sustained fire
  • PEW Science composite Suppression Rating of 36.7 on a 10.3" MK18 with Federal XM193, independently verified performance data
  • Available in HUB (1.375x24) or QD (1x16 LH) mount configurations; HUB ships with a 5/8x24 direct thread, QD ships with a Spooky 1 flash hider
  • Dimensions: 6.85" (HUB) or 7.20" (QD); 18.2 oz (HUB) or 19.7 oz (QD); 1.60" diameter
  • Optimized for 1,100-2,600 fps velocity range, consistent performance from subsonic through supersonic 7.62 loads
  • 8-inch minimum barrel length required for Inconel construction on 5.56 hosts; torque mounts to 25-30 ft-lb per CAT’s installation guidance
